FF and FL Numbers
FF (floor flatness) and FL (floor levelness) are numbers assigned to control the bumpiness and levelness of a finished concrete surface.

The higher the F number the more flat or level the concrete surface is.

Today's concrete tools allow the finisher to achieve FF35 and FL25 which is considered flat.

FF25/FL20: moderately flat
FF35/FL25: flat
FF45/FL35: very flat
FF60/FL40: super flat

FF and FL numbers are extremely important when finishing larger areas of concrete like roads, industrial, and commercial floors.  With this type of application bull floats can become a less reliable finishing tool and can actually contribute to lower F numbers. Channel Floats on the other hand which are considerably larger than a bull float are designed to do a better job at the cut and fill process, cutting down high spots in the concrete and using the excess concrete mortar to fill in low spots and ridges.

Gator Glide Channel Floats have radiused ends and designed with extra-wide rib spacing and four stiffening ribs which run the full-length of the blade for added stability and straightness. The Gator Glide Adjustable Leveling Head (float and trowel bracket) bolts directly to the center ribs, a lower profile for better control of the tool.  For extra support our Gator Glide Outriggers may also be used.

Gator Glide Channel Float blades are made from Gator Tools own proprietary alloy, GatorLoy, which is non-painted, naturally finished, "broken in", and ready for use.  GatorLoy is recommended for air entrained concrete and will not prematurely seal the concrete and reduces the trapping of bleed water.
